To support the operational delivery by ensuring depots, plant & vehicles are compliant, fit for purpose and utilised efficiently.

What you'll be doing

As a Depot & Fleet Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Development and management of a multiyear depot repair & maintenance programme, working closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) to ensure priorities are understood and budgets available
  • Develop and manage a contract wide plant & fleet replacement strategy to inform long term investment requirements and support the Balfour Beattys carbon reduction plan
  • Directly manage work undertaken on the depot or vehicles ensuring suitable risk assessment and method statements are in place and teams are set to work safely.
  • Work closely with the wider Operations team to ensure driver and plant operator training & development needs is understood and delivered. Wherever possible utilise the Operator Skills Hub to ensure Herefordshire staff obtain industry leading skills
  • Work closely with the health, safety, environment & sustainability (HSES) teams to ensure documented plans are in place and depots remain safe and compliant to required standards
  • Provide direction through the line management of the transport officer, stores supervisor, plant engineer and yard operatives

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Proven experience of managing a teams
  • SMSTS or similar
  • Detailed knowledge of driver hours and CPC requirements
  • Previous experience of managing a fleet of vehicles
  • Experience of working within an Operational environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Great organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
