Join our Major Projects team as a Community Engagement Manager on our Old Oak Common Project and open up new pathways you never dreamt possible!

This role requires presence on site for minimum of 3 days a week.

What you'll be doing

As Community Engagement Manager you will responsible for:

  • Building and maintain good working relationships with all parties associated with the project, specifically key stakeholders, and the local community.
  • Compile and deliver the Community Liaison plans together with the wider Community team.
  • Proactively engage with the wider BBVS team reviewing programmed activity to mitigate construction impacts on local stakeholders and the community.
  • Co-ordinate and attend relevant project and supply chain meetings to ensure that all communications (including Advanced Notification Letters) and community relations activities are planned and delivered within required timescales.
  • Contribute to training workshops and toolbox talks, ensuring the wider project team and supply chain are aware of community sensitivities and act as good neighbours.
  • Engage with the local community, providing appropriate information at the right time.
  • Investigate and resolve any complaints and enquires including those received from the HS2 Helpdesk or Project Manager, initiate any necessary corrective action and advise the HS2 Helpdesk of the outcome of action taken within agreed timescales.
  • Co-ordinate the required resources and attend community engagement events such as public exhibitions and community meetings.
  • Oversee and/or produce written records in relation to community liaison activity including producing debrief notes following stakeholder meetings.
  • Contribute to community investment and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Support the HS2 survey process and implement corrective actions based on feedback received.
  • Contribute to the provision of weekly activity reports and three-monthly PMU reports.
  • Support the production of high-quality engagement materials on the project, including the preparation and issue of project newsletters, team briefings, presentations, award submissions and posters.
  • Interface with the Balfour Beatty, Vinci and Systra Group communications teams on reputational risks and opportunities that have the potential to impact the UK brand ensuring awareness and understanding of sensitivities and knowing when to escalate depending on stakeholder and topic.

Who we're looking for

The following Skills/Qualifications are Essential:

  • Experience working in a construction or infrastructure environments
  • Experience in dealing with the public and external parties
  • Experience of being able to respond to complaints and enquiries in a professional, sensitive, and informative way
  • Member of CIPR and certificate in Public Relations or equivalent

The following are desirable:

  • Public Relations experience and understanding of how the media works
  • Experience of working in a communication environment
  • Experience working in a design environment
  • Adobe InDesign or Photoshop
