About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.

What you'll be doing

As a Quality Inspector you will have the following accountabilities;

  • Perform inspections in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan).
  • Liaise with clients representative for conducting of day-to-day inspection during the construction activities.
  • Ensure installation of equipment is in compliance with ECS Code, drawings, vendor and code requirements with respect to; material, alignment, etc.
  • Assist QC manager and Area Leads in executing their responsibilities.
  • Maintaining LTQRs as required during inspections ensuring all signatures on LTQR and ITP during inspection.
  • Updating SONIM register as required.
  • Champion Foreign Material Exclusion, preventing ingress or entrapment of non-specified materials, loose items or debris in equipment and /or systems during assembly and testing
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting compliance with quality standards and procedures all installation, calibration and testing processes of electrical and instrumentation scope.
  • Recommend methods to improve overall quality and assists in analysing quality concerns.
  • Monitor and assist construction to achieve quality standards.

Who we're looking for

You will have;

  • Qualifications in Electrical/Electronics/instrumentation, ONC / HNC / HND (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience of Quality Control during the installation, inspection and testing of electrical and instrument systems associated with process plant during construction and operation to include; motors, pumps, transformers, DBs, cabling, electronic and pneumatic equipment, analogue and digital control systems, relay based and solid state logic systems, transmitters, control valves, etc.
  • Knowledge of ATEX directive, preferably attended relevant ATEX competency course.
  • CSCS Card
