Act as the central point of contact for lifting operations across the Balfour Beatty Group, provide guidance and support to all projects and audit lifting activities on projects where required.

What you'll be doing

As a Group Lead Appointed Person, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Central point of contact for lifting guidance and support to projects across the Group
  • Establishment and management of BB Lead AP Forum, developing a robust community of APs across the business
  • Represent Balfour Beatty at industry wide forums and steering groups for lifting
  • Develop a training and career pathway for lifting personnel, working with the technical training team to develop a skills pathway for lifting personnel within Balfour Beatty
  • Review of specialist and complex lift plans and risk assessments submitted by
    trade/subcontractor and supply chain Appointed Persons where required
  • Engage with BB projects as part of the tender process to ensure the optimal lifting strategy is devised
  • Work with HSE community to provide technical input into the relevant standards and procedures implemented across the Group.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Current CPCS Appointed Persons, Lifting Operations A61 Competency Card (Blue)
  • Experience working on projects with complex lifting operations, overseeing a team of Appointed Persons and ensuring all activities are conducted safely
  • Experience working on complex major projects in the Building, Civils, Energy & Highway Sectors
  • Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels across client, project and supply chain interfaces
  • Demonstrable experience delivering improvements to lifting standards across the industry
  • Deep understanding of lifting industry legislative requirements, BS7121 etc.
