This role can be based anywhere in the UK covering multiple exciting projects.

What you'll be doing

The key areas of accountability of the role including business objectives, and client satisfaction:

  • Lead on engaging with various client teams on technical issues support and guide to find the correct solutions. To be seen as the Subject Matter Expert.
  • At feasibility work as part of the preconstruction team in developing the right MEICA strategy for projects engaging with supply chain and designers on suitable systems to support the feasibility.
  • Guide the development of detailed design information and comment in relation to technical compliance.
  • Review of supply chain design information and comment in relation to technical compliance and initiation of Value Engineering ideas. This to involve developing hand marked design solutions to support estimating teams on occasion.
  • Liaison with commercial team members to ensure understanding of clients requirements and to review solutions. Review key plant and equipment selections at tender stage particularly related to VE or alternative design solutions.
  • Monitoring of external design consultants progress and performance during project delivery and supporting internal project team where issues arise.
  • Lead in the MEICA elements in progressive technical reviews.
  • Provide technical review of external Consultants design throughout various Stages of the project design delivery and supporting internal project team where issues arise.
  • Good understanding of MEICA type projects and applying this to project solutions.
  • Attend design and client meetings when necessary.
  • Awareness of project design delivery requirements in line with programme.
  • Lead on ensuring supply chain testing, commissioning and MEICA validation is integrated and delivered in accordance with the delivery programme.
  • Follow BMS and QA procedures.

Education Levels:

Qualified to a minimum of HNC/HND through completion a technical
apprenticeship, or degree level in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
Chartered Engineer would be desirable but not essential.

Specific technical knowledge/skills:

  • UK Construction and particularly related to the Environment Agency
  • Experience within the engineering/construction industry with some design experience from conception to completion of a contract
  • Understanding of design interface and site issues including testing and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of codes of practice, British Standards, CDM 2015
  • Awareness/knowledge of environmental issues i.e. BREEAM (including Infrastructure), Building Regulations and Building Safety Regulation
